Nordic Coaches
Born in Denver, I was shortly transplanted to Vail where I have lived ever since. I attended Red Sandstone Elementary, Minturn Middle and graduated from Battle Mountain. I began alpine skiing at the age of 4 and Nordic skiing around age 12. I spent most of my high school days competing in sports; soccer, track, cross country skiing. I recieved all state ski honors all four years of high school. I was a Junior National Champion in 1991 (Anchorage), and an all american in 91, 92, and 93. My senior year I was also selected for all state soccer honors. I attended the University of Colorado and skied for them for 5 months. After college I returned to Vail and once again began racing this time however it was off-road triathlons and adventure racing. I'm currently racing for Nike ACG as a professional adventure racer.
I started coaching kids soon after my return to Vail. I was named head nordic coach of VMS in 1998 and have coached there since. Coaching is my real passion, I enjoy teaching kids some of the valuable lessons that I have learned through years of coaching and competing. After my dissapointment with college coaching it was my goal to prepare kids for the next level of competition whether that is the national team, division 1 NCAA or whatever there goals might be. I have really enjoyed my time with the club program (RMD) and seeing my kids excel to a level that has never been seen in this valley. The future is very bright for nordic skiing in this community and it is great to have SSCV to nurture our goals.
Quote from Eric - "The SSCV Nordic program has a lot of momentum behind it right now and I'm excited to be a part of it. The support and facilities look fantastic and I'm looking forward to getting started."
