Ski & Snowboard Club Vail is pleased to announce that long term SSCV coach and current Strength & Conditioning Director John Cole has been promoted to the position of Human Performance Director. In his expanded role, John will continue to design and implement the conditioning programs for SSCV’s athletes while taking a leadership role in all aspects of athletic programming in cooperation with the respective sport program directors.

A 3-sport athlete at New England College (Alpine Ski Racing, Soccer and Lacrosse), John (JC as he’s known to his athletes and friends) graduated with a BA in 1991.  He was a coach with SSCV from 1992 to 2001 before accepting a position with the US Disabled Ski Team where he remained until 2005. JC was recognized as the U.S. Disabled Coach of the Year in 2005. Following the 2005 season, JC returned to SSCV to assume the newly created position of Strength & Conditioning Director.

In the ensuing 5 years and through collaboration and consultation with USSA Sports Science, Athletes Performance Institute, the USOC Sports Science Department and the research backing from the Doctors at the Steadman-Philippon Research Institute and Howard Head Sports Medicine, the SSCV Performance Training Program has set the standard for high school and Elite winter sports performance programming at a local, regional and national level.

"I am incredibly honored and excited to be named the Human Performance Director for such an elite program as SSCV. It is my clear mission to continue to contribute to the overwhelming success of SSCV. Our Strength and Conditioning Programming will continue to utilize the state of the art research and information that is provided by our consulting partners. I am also very excited to work closely with the SSCV coaching staff on long-term athletic planning for the continued success of our athletes. Even though SSCV has received many accolades in the last year, our work is far from done. We will continue to focus all of our efforts into not only being the best club in the nation, but best in the world."

JC and wife Nancy reside in Edwards with their two Children Shane (age 9) and Ryan (age 7) who are budding snow sports enthusiasts in the Carver Corps and Future Stars programs respectively.
