topper Alpine USSA/FIS/Norams Teams - Ski and Snowboard Club Vail - Ski Academies - Alpine Ski Team

2017-2018 U16 Full Time

This team is for qualified athletes who were born in 2002 or 2003, want to pursue an aggressive racing program, and dream of racing for an NCAA school or on the World Cup in the future. As part of a year-round program, athletes begin their training in May preparing for the next ski season. The conditioning component meets 4 times per week beginning June 1, 5 times per week during the fall months and continues on a maintenance program 3 times per week once athletes begin training on snow. The on-snow training occurs Tuesday - Friday mornings and weekends all day beginning Oct. 15.

Athletes on the U16 Team will be training for their focus race series, the Sync Cup, with an opportunity for an out of division race for qualified athletes. Travel to away races will be organized by staff; athletes will be expected to travel as a team. Athletes can expect video 2-3 times per week, and strength and conditioning screenings. Informational meetings will be conducted in the fall for parents and athletes to meet their coaches, learn the training and race calendar, and understand the details of their program. Families can expect monthly communication throughout the season to stay abreast of progress and developments.
